In November 2023, MSI made waves by introducing six gaming-focused monitors featuring QD-OLED display panels from Samsung Display: MAG 271QPX, MPG 271QRX, MAG 321UPX, MPG 321URX, MAG 341CQP, and MPG 491CQP. At CES 2024, they not only revealed more about these products but also demonstrated them. Let's dive into what these gaming monitors bring to the table and explore their pricing and availability details.
MSI MAG 271QPX and MPG 271QRX
Starting with the smaller models, MAG 271QPX and MPG 271QRX boast a 26.5-inch QD-OLED screen from Samsung Display, featuring WQHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), a 360Hz refresh rate, a rapid 0.03 milliseconds (ms) response time, 250 nits typical brightness, 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and support for VESA Adaptive-Sync. Additionally, they come with VESA Display HDR True Black 400 certification.
Digging into the details on their official web pages, it appears there are at least three distinctions between them. Firstly, MAG 271QPX has a 15W Power Delivery (PD) output from the USB Type-C port, while MPG 271QRX offers a higher 90W PD output. Secondly, MPG 271QRX is equipped with 2x USB 2.0 Type-A ports and 1x USB 2.0 Type-B ports, whereas MAG 271QPX lacks these. Lastly, MPG 271QRX features the Gaming Intelligence App, a perk absent in MAG 271QPX.
Judging by these features, MPG 271QRX seems to be a more advanced variant, likely to come with a higher price tag. Unfortunately, MSI has not disclosed the pricing or availability details for these monitors. Notably, they seem to share the same display panel as the Alienware AW2725DF, making it a close competitor.
MSI MAG 321UPX and MPG 321URX
Moving up in size, MAG 321UPX and MPG 321URX feature a 31.5-inch QD-OLED display panel from Samsung Display, offering a UHD resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and a 240Hz refresh rate. They share the same 0.03 milliseconds (ms) response time, 250 nits typical brightness, 99% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and support for VESA Adaptive-Sync, along with VESA Display HDR True Black 400 certification.
Similar to the smaller models, MAG 321UPX and MPG 321URX have the same distinctions between them, mirroring the differences seen in the MSI MAG 271QPX and MPG 271QRX. The absence of pricing and availability details applies to these monitors as well.
MSI MAG 341CQP and MPG 491CQP
Shifting to curved displays, MAG 341CQP and MPG 491CQP take the spotlight as the flagship QD-OLED monitors from MSI, with MPG 491CQP leading the way.
MPG 491CQP boasts an expansive 49-inch QD-OLED screen from Samsung Display, featuring a DQHD resolution (5,120 x 1,440 pixels), equivalent to placing two 27-inch QHD monitors side by side. This model offers a 144Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, MAG 341CQP has a 34-inch display with a UWQHD resolution (3,440 x 1,440 pixels) and a 175Hz refresh rate.
Both monitors share 250 nits of typical brightness, support for VESA Adaptive Sync, and VESA Display HDR True Black 400 certification. While MPG 491CQP aligns with the display panel of the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD and Gigabyte Aorus CO49DQ, MAG 341CQP mirrors the screen of the Alienware AW3423DW and Samsung OLED G85SB. As with the other models, MSI has not disclosed the prices or availability of these monitors. Stay tuned for further updates expected in the coming weeks.
